ART 2030

In September 2019, ART 2030 headed to New York for the second edition of ART 2030 New York, with a large-scale and international program.

As with its original aim, ART 2030 New York is intended to be a platform coinciding with the annual United Nations General Assembly session to connect the movers and shakers of the art sector, with the United Nations, the Global Goals sector, businesses, and the people, to ultimately inspire action for a stronger future.

In 2019, ART 2030 New York focused on exemplifying the local-to-global actions and possibilities of Art for the Global Goals and in particular on Art for the special focus on Global Goal 15: Climate Action, in support of the UN Climate Action Summit on the 23rd of September, 2019. This year, ART 2030 New York activations combined physical events with a heighted digital program across ART 2030 and partner platforms during the period.

ART 2030 New York in 2019 also presented one of ART 2030's largest projects to date: Breathe with Me by Jeppe Hein and ART 2030, a public art installation and global community project to raise awareness about climate, health, community and more through one simple action: breathing. Breathe with Me took place both inside the United Nations Headquarters and in Central Park. For more information click here.

Life on Earth is about co-existence - among people, non-human animals, ecosystems, and the environment. Co-existence is beautiful and generative, chaotic and challenging. The fact is, we're in it together. That's why we all have to take the climate emergency seriously. - Olafur Eliasson

On September 23rd 2019, in support of the United Nations’ first Climate Action Summit and #ActNow Climate Campaign, ART 2030 curated and activated a group of the world’s most important and passionate artists, galleries and museums to spread the message of urgency of taking climate action.

Art influencers Pace Gallery, Tate Museums, Luhring Augustine Gallery, Artist Alfredo Jaar with Galerie Lelong & Co., 303 Gallery, Artist Duo Allora & Calzadilla with Gladstone Gallery, Artist Michelangelo Pistoletto with Third Paradise, Tina Kim Gallery, Artist Yoko Ono, Jeppe Hein and ART 2030, and Studio Olafur Eliasson all ignited Social Media channels with Climate Action related artworks and art messages, creating captivating content to draw audiences towards the message of Climate Action Now as well as to the United Nations Act Now campaign, inspiring people around the world to take actions for a sustainable and healthy planet.

The Art United for Climate Action campaign had an estimated potential reach of 11,224,000+ audiences around the world, and marks itself as the world’s first major international art campaigns in support of the United Nations Climate Action Agenda.

From September 25-27, Breathe with Me in Central Park invited everybody to create an artwork for the world, together. The biggest art project staged in the park for over a decade, Breathe with Me engaged notable participants, passersby, and hundreds of local children - in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
